what is local

wanting to procure local meat and produce, decided it was important to figure out exactly what “local” means.

oddly enough wikipedia was the only site i found offering a specific definition. seems everyone generally accepts a “100 miles as the crow flies” standard though haven’t been able to find written proof on a site ending in .gov or .org – frustrating but it’ll have to do for now. if anyone has a good site for that info – i’d appreciate it.

found a great site explaining use of google maps to calculate direct distances. nice for determining general boundaries and exact distances within your local area.
